		Hiking is a truly unique experience around the Algoma region. There are many aspects of the Canadian Shield that make this area very different from most other places in the world. Great sized rock formations create amazing backdrops for the combinations of deciduous and coniferous vegetation. Occasional hills and numerous lakes make wonderful look-outs for fantastic panoramic views.     Elliot Lake has one of the highest elevated points in the north shore, observing the greatest north shore area. It was used as the main observation point for fires in the area. Times in the autumn make this area like no other. The mix of soil and temperatures give our region's deciduous trees such a vivid brightness of red-oranges that we are unique even when compared to nearby communities.
